oneekaṁ timesamayaṁ the Buddhabhagavā near Sāvatthīsāvatthiyaṁ was stayingviharati in Jeta’s Grovejetavane of Anāthapiṇḍikaanāthapiṇḍikassa monasteryārāme.

thenAtha indeedkho Pañcakaṅgapañcakaṅgo the chamberlainthapati a certainaññataraṁ manpurisaṁ addressedāmantesi:
come“ehi youtvaṁ, good manambho manpurisa, where Venerableyenāyasmā Anuruddhaanuruddho approach him theretenupasaṅkama; having approachedupasaṅkamitvā mymama with the wordsvacanena of the venerableāyasmato of Anuruddhaanuruddhassa feetpāde with the headsirasā worshipvandāhi:
Pañcakaṅga‘pañcakaṅgo, sirbhante, the chamberlainthapati of the venerableāyasmato of Anuruddhaanuruddhassa feetpāde with the headsirasā worshipsvandatī’ti;
and thusevañca sayvadehi:
let him consent‘adhivāsetu pleasekira, sirbhante, the venerableāyasmā Anuruddhaanuruddho of Pañcakaṅgapañcakaṅgassa of the chamberlainthapatissa for tomorrowsvātanāya fourth including himselfattacatuttho mealbhattaṁ;
whichyena andca pleasekira, sirbhante, the venerableāyasmā Anuruddhaanuruddho earlier than usualpagevataraṁ might comeāgaccheyya;
Pañcakaṅgapañcakaṅgo, sirbhante, the chamberlainthapati having many dutiesbahukicco having much to dobahukaraṇīyo by the king's businessrājakaraṇīyenā’”ti.

wherebyyena andca indeedkira, venerable sirbhante, venerableāyasmā Anuruddhaanuruddho very earlypagevataraṁ should comeāgaccheyya;

thenAtha indeedkho venerableāyasmā Anuruddhaanuruddho of thattassā nightrattiyā passingaccayena morning timepubbaṇhasamayaṁ having robednivāsetvā having taken bowl and robepattacīvaramādāya whereyena of Pañcakaṅgapañcakaṅgassa builderthapatissa homenivesanaṁ he approachedtenupasaṅkami; having approachedupasaṅkamitvā spread outpaññatte seatāsane sat downnisīdi.
thenAtha indeedkho Pañcakaṅgapañcakaṅgo builderthapati venerableāyasmantaṁ Anuruddhaanuruddhaṁ deliciouspaṇītena fresh foodskhādanīyena cooked foodsbhojanīyena with his own handssahatthā servedsantappesi satisfiedsampavāresi.
thenAtha indeedkho Pañcakaṅgapañcakaṅgo builderthapati venerableāyasmantaṁ Anuruddhaanuruddhaṁ having eatenbhuttāviṁ having washed his hands and bowlonītapattapāṇiṁ a certainaññataraṁ lownīcaṁ seatāsanaṁ having takengahetvā to one sideekamantaṁ sat downnisīdi.

“here“Idha memaṁ, sirbhante, senior mendicantstherā mendicantsbhikkhū having approachedupasaṅkamitvā they said thusevamāhaṁsu:
‘limitless‘appamāṇaṁ, householdergahapati, release of the heartcetovimuttiṁ you should develop’bhāvehī’ti.
someEkacce senior mendicantstherā they said thusevamāhaṁsu:
‘expansive‘mahaggataṁ, householdergahapati, release of the heartcetovimuttiṁ you should develop’bhāvehī’ti.
whichYā and thiscāyaṁ, sirbhante, limitlessappamāṇā release of the heartcetovimutti whichyā andca expansivemahaggatā release of the heart—cetovimutti—
theseime thingsdhammā different in meaningnānatthā andceva different in phrasingnānābyañjanā andca, orudāhu same in meaningekatthā phrasing onlybyañjanameva different?”nānan”ti?

by this“Tena thenhi, householdergahapati, this itself heretaṁyevettha let it appearpaṭibhātu, afterwards it is sureapaṇṇakante from hereito it will bebhavissatī”ti.
