oh‘aho if only Ivatāhaṁ of defilementsāsavānaṁ due to the endingkhayā undefiledanāsavaṁ freedom of heartcetovimuttiṁ freedom by wisdompaññāvimuttiṁ in this very lifediṭṭheva in this very lifedhamme with my own insightsayaṁ with my own insightabhiññā having realizedsacchikatvā having attainedupasampajja might livevihareyyan’ti;
it is possibleṭhānaṁ indeedkho thispanetaṁ is foundvijjati, thatyaṁ heso of defilementsāsavānaṁ due to the endingkhayā undefiledanāsavaṁ freedom of heartcetovimuttiṁ freedom by wisdompaññāvimuttiṁ in this very lifediṭṭheva in this very lifedhamme with my own insightsayaṁ with my own insightabhiññā having realizedsacchikatvā having attainedupasampajja might livevihareyya.

thusEvaṁ when saidvutte, of Sālāsāleyyakā brahmin householdersbrāhmaṇagahapatikā to the Blessed Onebhagavantaṁ said thisetadavocuṁ:
excellent“abhikkantaṁ, worthybho Gotamagotama, excellentabhikkantaṁ, worthybho Gotamagotama.
just asSeyyathāpi, worthybho Gotamagotama, overturnednikkujjitaṁ or might set uprightukkujjeyya, hiddenpaṭicchannaṁ or might revealvivareyya, to the lostmūḷhassa or the pathmaggaṁ might point outācikkheyya, in darknessandhakāre or an oil lamptelapajjotaṁ might holddhāreyya: those with eyes‘cakkhumanto formsrūpāni will seedakkhantī’ti; just soevamevaṁ by the worthybhotā Gotamagotamena in many waysanekapariyāyena the Dhammadhammo has been made clearpakāsito.
weEte wemayaṁ to the worthybhavantaṁ Gotamagotamaṁ as refugesaraṇaṁ we gogacchāma and to the Dhammadhammañca and to the Bhikkhu Saṅghabhikkhusaṅghañca.
as lay followersUpāsake usno the worthybhavaṁ Gotamagotamo may rememberdhāretu from this dayajjatagge gone with lifepāṇupete gone for refugesaraṇaṁ gonegate”ti.
