ohAho indeedvata may thismāyaṁ householdergahapati orvā householder's songahapatiputto orvā in the future tooāyatimpi with suchevarūpena deliciouspaṇītena with almsfoodpiṇḍapātena they might servepariviseyyā’ti—
thus for himevampissa notna ishoti.
heSo thattaṁ almsfoodpiṇḍapātaṁ untiedagathito uninfatuatedamucchito unattachedanajjhopanno seeing the drawbackādīnavadassāvī understanding the escapenissaraṇapañño eatsparibhuñjati.
whatTaṁ dokiṁ you thinkmaññasi, Jīvakajīvaka,
thenapi nownu thatso mendicantbhikkhu at thattasmiṁ timesamaye to hurt themselvesattabyābādhāya orvā intendingceteti, to hurt othersparabyābādhāya orvā intendingceteti, to hurt bothubhayabyābādhāya orvā intendingcetetī”ti?
no“No indeed thishetaṁ, sirbhante”.

whenYampi thatso living creaturepāṇo by a collargalappaveṭhakena being led alongānīyamāno paindukkhaṁ sadnessdomanassaṁ experiencespaṭisaṁvedeti, with thisiminā seconddutiyena reasonṭhānena muchbahuṁ wickednessapuññaṁ brims withpasavati.
whenYampi theyso says thisevamāha:

whoYo indeedkho, Jīvakajīvaka, the Realized Onetathāgataṁ orvā disciple of the Realized Onetathāgatasāvakaṁ orvā specially foruddissa a living creaturepāṇaṁ slaughtersārabhati heso with theseimehi fivepañcahi reasonsṭhānehi muchbahuṁ wickednessapuññaṁ brims withpasavatī”ti.

thusEvaṁ when saidvutte, Jīvakajīvako Komārabhaccakomārabhacco to the Blessed Onebhagavantaṁ said thisetadavoca:
incredible“acchariyaṁ, sirbhante, amazingabbhutaṁ, sirbhante.
allowableKappiyaṁ indeedvata, sirbhante, mendicantsbhikkhū foodāhāraṁ eatāhārenti;
blamelessanavajjaṁ indeedvata, sirbhante, mendicantsbhikkhū foodāhāraṁ eatāhārenti.
excellentAbhikkantaṁ, sirbhante, excellentabhikkantaṁ, sirbhante ellipsis…pe…
lay followerupāsakaṁ memaṁ the Blessed Onebhagavā may rememberdhāretu from this day forthajjatagge for lifepāṇupetaṁ refugesaraṇaṁ gonegatan”ti.
