thenAtha indeedkho, venerable sirbhante, she brahmin ladymāṇavikā thattaṁ brahminbrāhmaṇaṁ said thisetadavoca,
go‘gaccha youtvaṁ, brahminbrāhmaṇa, from the marketāpaṇā a baby monkeymakkaṭacchāpakaṁ having boughtkiṇitvā bringānehi, whoyo for meme for the childkumārakassa playmatekīḷāpanako will bebhavissatī’ti.
thusEvaṁ when saidvutte, heso brahminbrāhmaṇo thattaṁ brahmin ladymāṇavikaṁ said thisetadavoca:
wait‘āgamehi for nowtāva, my dearbhoti, untilyāva you give birthvijāyati.
ifSace youtvaṁ, my dearbhoti, a boykumārakaṁ you will give birth tovijāyissasi, for himtassā to youte Iahaṁ from the marketāpaṇā a male baby monkeymakkaṭacchāpakaṁ having boughtkiṇitvā I will bringānessāmi, whoyo for youte for the boykumārakassa playmatekīḷāpanako will bebhavissati.
ifSace butpana youtvaṁ, my dearbhoti, a girlkumārikaṁ you will give birth tovijāyissasi, for hertassā to youte Iahaṁ from the marketāpaṇā a female baby monkeymakkaṭacchāpikaṁ having boughtkiṇitvā I will bringānessāmi, who for youte for the girlkumārikāya playmatekīḷāpanikā will bebhavissatī’ti.

this‘ayaṁ for youte, madambhoti, from the marketāpaṇā baby monkeymakkaṭacchāpako having boughtkiṇitvā was broughtānīto, whoyo for youte for the childkumārakassa a playmatekīḷāpanako will bebhavissatī’ti.
thusEvaṁ when saidvutte, venerable sirbhante, that brahmin ladymāṇavikā to thattaṁ brahminbrāhmaṇaṁ said thisetadavoca:
go‘gaccha youtvaṁ, brahminbrāhmaṇa, thisimaṁ baby monkeymakkaṭacchāpakaṁ having takenādāya whereyena Rattapāṇirattapāṇi dyerrajakaputto approach himtenupasaṅkama; having approachedupasaṅkamitvā Rattapāṇirattapāṇiṁ dyerrajakaputtaṁ thusevaṁ sayvadehi—
I wishicchāmahaṁ, friendsamma Rattapāṇirattapāṇi, thisimaṁ baby monkeymakkaṭacchāpakaṁ yellow greasepaintpītāvalepanaṁ callednāma dyeraṅgajātaṁ dyedrajitaṁ pounded and re-poundedākoṭitapaccākoṭitaṁ pressed on both sidesubhatobhāgavimaṭṭhan’ti.
thenAtha indeedkho, venerable sirbhante, thatso brahminbrāhmaṇo for hertassā brahmin ladymāṇavikāya enamoredsāratto with heart boundpaṭibaddhacitto thattaṁ baby monkeymakkaṭacchāpakaṁ having takenādāya whereyena Rattapāṇirattapāṇi dyerrajakaputto approachedtenupasaṅkami; having approachedupasaṅkamitvā Rattapāṇirattapāṇiṁ dyerrajakaputtaṁ said thisetadavoca:

I wish‘icchāmahaṁ, friendsamma Rattapāṇirattapāṇi, thisimaṁ monkeymakkaṭacchāpakaṁ with yellow greasepaintpītāvalepanaṁ callednāma dye-kindraṅgajātaṁ dyedrajitaṁ pounded and re-poundedākoṭitapaccākoṭitaṁ pressed on both sidesubhatobhāgavimaṭṭhan’ti.
thusEvaṁ spokenvutte, sirbhante, Rattapāṇirattapāṇi the dyerrajakaputto thattaṁ brahminbrāhmaṇaṁ said thisetadavoca:
this‘ayaṁ indeedkho to youte, sirbhante, monkeymakkaṭacchāpako capable of dyeingraṅgakkhamo indeedhi indeedkho, notno capable of poundingākoṭanakkhamo, notno capable of pressingvimajjanakkhamo’ti.

thenAtha indeedkho, sirbhante, thatso brahminbrāhmaṇo lateraparena timesamayena newnavaṁ pair of garmentsdussayugaṁ having takenādāya whereyena Rattapāṇirattapāṇi the dyerrajakaputto to himtenupasaṅkami; having approachedupasaṅkamitvā to Rattapāṇirattapāṇiṁ the dyerrajakaputtaṁ said thisetadavoca:

well then“tena indeedhi, sirbhante, listensuṇohi whose I amyassāhaṁ disciplesāvako”ti:
of the attentive one“Dhīrassa free of delusionvigatamohassa,
with hard-heartedness dissolvedPabhinnakhīlassa victor in battlevijitavijayassa;
untroubledAnīghassa very even-mindedsusamacittassa,
with virtue of an elderVuddhasīlassa with wisdom of a saintsādhupaññassa;
immaculate in the midstVesamantarassa stainlessvimalassa,
