come“ehi youtvaṁ, my good manambho manpurisa, whereyena the Blessed Onebhagavā approach himtenupasaṅkama; having approachedupasaṅkamitvā mymama in the namevacanena of the Blessed Onebhagavato feetpāde with the headsirasā bowvandāhi, healthyappābādhaṁ wellappātaṅkaṁ nimblelahuṭṭhānaṁ strongbalaṁ living comfortablyphāsuvihāraṁ askpuccha:
king‘rājā, sirbhante, Pasenadipasenadi of Kosalakosalo of the Blessed Onebhagavato feetpāde with the headsirasā bowsvandati, healthyappābādhaṁ wellappātaṅkaṁ nimblelahuṭṭhānaṁ strongbalaṁ living comfortablyphāsuvihāraṁ askspucchatī’ti;
and thusevañca sayvadehi:
today‘ajja indeedkira, sirbhante, kingrājā Pasenadipasenadi of Kosalakosalo after the mealpacchābhattaṁ having eaten breakfastbhuttapātarāso the Blessed Onebhagavantaṁ to seedassanāya will approachupasaṅkamissatī’”ti.
yes“Evaṁ, Your Majestydevā”ti indeedkho thatso manpuriso of King Pasenadirañño of Kosalapasenadissa of Kosalakosalassa having consentedpaṭissutvā whereyena the Blessed Onebhagavā approached himtenupasaṅkami; having approachedupasaṅkamitvā the Blessed Onebhagavantaṁ having bowedabhivādetvā to one sideekamantaṁ sat downnisīdi. to one sideEkamantaṁ seatednisinno indeedkho thatso manpuriso the Blessed Onebhagavantaṁ said thisetadavoca:

the king“rājā, venerable sirbhante, Pasenadipasenadi of Kosalakosalo of the Blessed Onebhagavato feetpāde with the headsirasā worshipsvandati, freedom from illnessappābādhaṁ freedom from afflictionappātaṅkaṁ ease of risinglahuṭṭhānaṁ strengthbalaṁ ease of livingphāsuvihāraṁ askspucchati;
and thusevañca saysvadeti:
today‘ajja indeedkira, venerable sirbhante, the kingrājā Pasenadipasenadi of Kosalakosalo after the mealpacchābhattaṁ having eaten breakfastbhuttapātarāso to the Blessed Onebhagavantaṁ to seedassanāya will approachupasaṅkamissatī’”ti.

today“ajja reportedlykira kingrājā Pasenadipasenadi of Kosalakosalo after the mealpacchābhattaṁ having eaten breakfastbhuttapātarāso the Blessed Onebhagavantaṁ to seedassanāya will approachupasaṅkamissatī”ti.
thenAtha indeedkho Somāsomā andca sisterbhaginī Sakulāsakulā andca sisterbhaginī the kingrājānaṁ Pasenadipasenadiṁ of Kosalakosalaṁ at the serving of foodbhattābhihāre having approachedupasaṅkamitvā they said this:etadavocuṁ:
therefore“tena thenhi, great kingmahārāja, also in our nameamhākampi with wordsvacanena of the Blessed Onebhagavato feetpāde with the headsirasā bowvandāhi, free from illnessappābādhaṁ free from afflictionappātaṅkaṁ nimblelahuṭṭhānaṁ strongbalaṁ living comfortablyphāsuvihāraṁ askpuccha:
Somā‘somā andca, venerable sirbhante, sisterbhaginī Sakulāsakulā andca sisterbhaginī of the Blessed Onebhagavato feetpāde with the headsirasā bowsvandati, free from illnessappābādhaṁ free from afflictionappātaṅkaṁ nimblelahuṭṭhānaṁ strongbalaṁ living comfortablyphāsuvihāraṁ askspucchatī’”ti.

Somā“somā andca, sirbhante, sisterbhaginī Sakulāsakulā andca sisterbhaginī of the Blessed Onebhagavato feetpāde with the headsirasā bowsvandati, free from illnessappābādhaṁ free from afflictionappātaṅkaṁ nimblelahuṭṭhānaṁ strongbalaṁ living comfortablyphāsuvihāraṁ askspucchatī”ti.
what“Kiṁ thenpana, great kingmahārāja, Somāsomā andca sisterbhaginī Sakulāsakulā andca sisterbhaginī otheraññaṁ messengerdūtaṁ did they not obtainnālatthun”ti?
they heard“Assosuṁ indeedkho, sirbhante, Somāsomā andca sisterbhaginī Sakulāsakulā andca sisterbhaginī:
today‘ajja they saykira kingrājā Pasenadipasenadi of Kosalakosalo after the mealpacchābhattaṁ having eaten breakfastbhuttapātarāso the Blessed Onebhagavantaṁ to seedassanāya will approachupasaṅkamissatī’ti.
thenAtha indeedkho, sirbhante, Somāsomā andca sisterbhaginī Sakulāsakulā andca sisterbhaginī memaṁ in serving the mealbhattābhihāre having approachedupasaṅkamitvā said thisetadavocuṁ:
therefore‘tena thenhi, great kingmahārāja, in our name tooamhākampi with wordsvacanena of the Blessed Onebhagavato feetpāde with the headsirasā bowvandāhi, free from illnessappābādhaṁ free from afflictionappātaṅkaṁ nimblelahuṭṭhānaṁ strongbalaṁ living comfortablyphāsuvihāraṁ askpuccha—

Somāsomā andca sisterbhaginī Sakulāsakulā andca sisterbhaginī of the Blessed Onebhagavato feetpāde with the headsirasā worshipsvandati, little afflictionappābādhaṁ little illnessappātaṅkaṁ lightness of risinglahuṭṭhānaṁ strengthbalaṁ comfortable livingphāsuvihāraṁ askspucchatī’”ti.
May they be happy“Sukhiniyo let them behontu thosetā, Great Kingmahārāja, Somāsomā andca sisterbhaginī Sakulāsakulā andca sisterbhaginī”ti.

thenAtha indeedkho kingrājā Pasenadipasenadi of Kosalakosalo the Blessed Onebhagavantaṁ said thisetadavoca:
heard“sutaṁ this by memetaṁ, sirbhante, asceticsamaṇo Gotamagotamo says thusevamāha:
there is not‘natthi thatso asceticsamaṇo orvā brahminbrāhmaṇo orvā whoyo all-knowingsabbaññū all-seeingsabbadassāvī without exceptionaparisesaṁ knowledge and visionñāṇadassanaṁ will claimpaṭijānissati, this is notnetaṁ possibleṭhānaṁ is foundvijjatī’ti.
thoseYe whote, sirbhante, said thusevamāhaṁsu: ascetic‘samaṇo Gotamagotamo says thus—there is notevamāha—natthi thatso asceticsamaṇo orvā brahminbrāhmaṇo orvā whoyo all-knowingsabbaññū all-seeingsabbadassāvī without exceptionaparisesaṁ knowledge and visionñāṇadassanaṁ will claimpaṭijānissati, this is notnetaṁ possibleṭhānaṁ is foundvijjatī’ti; I hopekacci theyte, sirbhante, of the Blessed Onebhagavato speaking in accordancevuttavādino, notna andca the Blessed Onebhagavantaṁ with an untruthabhūtena misrepresentabbhācikkhanti, of the dhammadhammassa and in accordancecānudhammaṁ explainbyākaronti, notna andca anykoci legitimatesahadhammiko rebuttalvādānuvādo worthy of censuregārayhaṁ groundsṭhānaṁ comes toāgacchatī”ti?

those who“Ye theyte, great kingmahārāja, said thusevamāhaṁsu: the ascetic‘samaṇo Gotamagotamo says thus: there is notevamāha—natthi thatso asceticsamaṇo orvā brahminbrāhmaṇo orvā whoyo all-knowingsabbaññū all-seeingsabbadassāvī without remainderaparisesaṁ knowledge and visionñāṇadassanaṁ will claimpaṭijānissati, this is notnetaṁ the caseṭhānaṁ existsvijjatī’ti; notna by meme theyte speaking what was saidvuttavādino, they misrepresentabbhācikkhanti andca indeedpana memaṁ theyte with what is falseasatā with what is untrueabhūtenā”ti.
