and that whichYampi the honorablebhavaṁ Caṅkīcaṅkī Opāsādaopāsādaṁ lives inajjhāvasati teeming with living creaturessattussadaṁ full of hay, wood, watersatiṇakaṭṭhodakaṁ full of grainsadhaññaṁ a crown propertyrājabhoggaṁ by Kingraññā Pasenadipasenadinā of Kosalakosalena givendinnaṁ a royal giftrājadāyaṁ endowed to a brahminbrahmadeyyaṁ, for this reasonimināpaṅgena notna it is appropriatearahati the honorablebhavaṁ Caṅkīcaṅkī the asceticsamaṇaṁ Gotamagotamaṁ to seedassanāya to approachupasaṅkamituṁ;

just as a reclusesamaṇotveva Gotamagotamo is worthyarahati the honourablebhavantaṁ Caṅkīcaṅkiṁ to seedassanāya to approachupasaṅkamitun”ti.

thusEvaṁ when saidvutte, Caṅkīcaṅkī brahminbrāhmaṇo thosete brahminsbrāhmaṇe said thisetadavoca:
well then“tena indeedhi, sirbho, me toomamapi listensuṇātha, whyyathā we ourselvesmayameva are appropriatearahāma thetaṁ asceticsamaṇaṁ Gotamagotamaṁ for seeingdassanāya to approachupasaṅkamituṁ;
notna but indeedtveva is appropriatearahati heso masterbhavaṁ Gotamagotamo to usamhākaṁ for seeingdassanāya to approachupasaṅkamituṁ.
asceticSamaṇo indeedkhalu, sirbho, Gotamagotamo on both sidesubhato well bornsujāto on the mother's sidemātito andca on the father's sidepitito andca of pure descentsaṁsuddhagahaṇiko as far asyāva seventhsattamā paternal generationpitāmahayugā irrefutableakkhitto impeccableanupakkuṭṭho in terms of birthjātivādena.
and whichYampi, sirbho, asceticsamaṇo Gotamagotamo on both sidesubhato well bornsujāto on the mother's sidemātito andca on the father's sidepitito andca of pure descentsaṁsuddhagahaṇiko as far asyāva seventhsattamā paternal generationpitāmahayugā irrefutableakkhitto impeccableanupakkuṭṭho in terms of birthjātivādena, by this factorimināpaṅgena notna is appropriatearahati heso masterbhavaṁ Gotamagotamo to usamhākaṁ for seeingdassanāya to approachupasaṅkamituṁ;

so muchEttake indeedkho Iahaṁ, sirbho, of thattassa of the worthybhoto Gotamagotamassa praisesvaṇṇe I have learnedpariyāpuṇāmi, notno butca indeedkho thatso worthybhavaṁ Gotamagotamo of just this much praiseettakavaṇṇo;
