aor 3rd sg of aṭṭhāsi (verb); aor 2nd sg of aṭṭhāsi (verb)
Etymology. From √ṭhā (stand, remain), cognate with Sanskrit sthā, Greek stásis (standing, position), Latin status; the root expresses the concrete image of standing upright and stationary, which extends to persistence and abiding. The aorist stem aṭṭhā- shows the characteristic Pali vowel gradation and reduplication of this strong perfective.
