masc nom sg of abhinīta (pp)
Etymology. abhi- (toward, bearing down on) + nī- (√nī, to lead). The prefix abhi- adds the sense of leading someone toward a purpose or into a situation. √nī is cognate with Latin dūcō (to lead, educate) and English lead (both from an Indo-European root *sneigʰ- meaning to drive or guide). The past participle -ta marks completion of the action.
