gerund (absolutive)
Analysis. abhi- (toward, bearing down on) + samecca (from sam- + √ci, to gather/comprehend): moving toward full comprehension, realizing completely.
Etymology. A compound of the prefix abhi- (toward, over, from Latin ob-) and samecca (sam- + √ci, 'gather, understand', from the Indo-European root *kei- seen in Latin cieo 'move, stir'). The spatial sense of abhi- (bearing down on) combines with sam- (together, completely) to express the intensity of understanding that moves toward and encompasses its object.
