masc nom sg of akkhitta (pp)
Etymology. a- (not) + khitta (past participle of khipati, 'throws, hurls'); the concrete image is of an accusation or challenge not thrown at someone, hence uncontested. Cognate with Sanskrit kṣiptá- (thrown), from PIE *skey- (to throw, scatter); English 'skid' shares the root metaphorically.
