masc nom sg of alobha (noun)
Etymology. a- (prefix, not, without) + lobha (greed, covetousness). The word negates lobha, which is related to Sanskrit lobha and ultimately to Indo-European *lewbh- (to desire eagerly). In Buddhist psychology, alobha (together with adosa and amoha) forms one of the three wholesome roots (kusala-mūla), the antidote to rāga.
