  1. bahu (adj): many; much; lots; a lot (of); great; large
  2. bahū (masc): many people; many things; much; a lot

Etymology. From Indo-European *bʰeh₂gu- (small, little), whence Sanskrit bahu, Greek mikros (μικρός) is unrelated. The semantic shift from 'small in quantity' (as in 'sparse, scanty') to 'many, much' occurred in the Indic branch. Related to English bough (a small branch, part of a tree), though the connection is remote.
