masculine accusative singular
Etymology. From Sanskrit brahman, the neuter absolute principle of Vedanta; in Pali the word is masculinized and applied to the Brahma-gods (Brahmakāyika devas) and to brahmacariya (the celibate monastic life, 'dwelling in Brahma'). The root is likely from bṛh- 'to grow, expand', hence 'the expanding force' or 'the mighty one'.
