imp 3rd sg of eti (verb)
Etymology. √i 'go' (cognate with Latin ire, English iteration, Greek ienai); in Vedic āgacchati, the prefix ā- 'toward the speaker' reverses the motion verb, turning √i into 'come' rather than mere 'go'. The thematic present etati becomes eti in Pali through regular loss of the final syllable.
