khaṇena

khaṇa

masc instr sg of khaṇa (noun)

  1. khaṇa (masc): moment; instant; point in time; opportunity
  2. khaṇena (ind): in a moment; in a split second

Etymology. Cognate with Sanskrit kṣaṇa and Greek knḗ 'that which is struck or scratched'; also related to Sanskrit kṣayati 'breaks, wears away'. The root sense is of a sharp point or keen edge—a moment cuts time as a blade cuts material. The word originally denoted a discrete, momentary subdivision.
