nominative singular masculine; or accusative singular masculine (the form khvidha appears to be a variant or misreading of khetta, which does not appear attested in standard Pali texts; resolving to khetta)
Etymology. From Proto-Indo-European *kh(w)et- 'to seize, possess'; cognate with Sanskrit kṣetra- (field, territory), and distantly with English chase (from Latin capere 'to seize', via Old French chacier). The semantic development reflects 'possessed ground' > 'field' > 'domain'.
