Etymology. From Indo-European *mugh- (to be confused, dull). Cognates: Old English 'mūg' (to grimace, be bewildered), German 'Mouge' (grimace); the root sense is of mental cloudiness or befuddlement. In Pali psychology, moha is one of the three fundamental unwholesome roots (mūla), alongside lobha (greed) and dosa (aversion).
