accusative singular neuter of mudita, past participle of mudati
Etymology. From √mud "to be glad, delight"; cognate with Sanskrit muda- "joy" and the PIE root *meuǝ- "to push, move" underlying Latin movēre "move" and English move (joy as a stirring of the heart). In Buddhist ethics, mudita is one of the four brahmaviharas (divine abodes), the cultivated joy in others' happiness and success.
