ossavana

nt

  1. (of roof) eaves; overhang; drip fringe; lit. flowing down

Built from

Analysis. ossavane (nom. sg.) + api (even, also): a locative-plus-particle form, 'even on the eaves', 'right at the overhang'.

Etymology. oss-ava-na from ava (down, downward) + √sru (to flow): 'flowing down'. √sru cognate with Sanskrit sravati, Latin fluō, English stream. The prefix ava- shows the downward motion of water; -ana is the abstract nominalizing suffix.
