masc nom sg of sakala (adj)
Etymology. From sa- (with, together) + kala (part, portion); literally 'with all parts', hence 'complete, whole'. The prefix sa- is the same Indo-European root as English 'same' and Latin 'similis'. Kala derives from √kal (to reckon, divide into parts), so sakala preserves the concrete image of all portions held together.
