Analysis. saṁ + ud + ā + √car: 'together + up/out + toward + move', lit. 'walk all together toward', hence to act jointly, address, or come to mind collectively.

Etymology. The root √car (to move, walk) appears in Latin currere 'to run' and English car, characterize. The prefix ud- ('up, out') combined with ā- ('toward the speaker') reverses and activates the simple motion into dynamic action and utterance. The prefix sam- ('together, with') brings multiplicity into unity—as in samādhi—making solo motion into coordinated behavior or collective occurrence.
