saudrayāti

saudraya

adjective (nominative singular feminine -ī form, or adverbial -āti form)

  1. advantageous; profitable; lit. with going up

Built from

Analysis. saudraya + āti: the adjective saudraya ("with going up, ascending") used adverbially with the particle āti (emphatic/manner marker).

Etymology. saudraya compounds su- (well, good) + udraya, from ud- (up, out) + √rā (to go, move). The root √rā appears in Sanskrit rāti "goes"; cognate with Latin errāre "to wander" and English rare in the sense of "to roam". The prefix su- (well) combined with the spatial sense of ud- (upward motion) yields "going well upward", i.e. advantageous progress.
