masc voc sg of sugata (adj); nt voc sg of sugata (adj); masc voc sg of sugata (noun)
Etymology. su- (well, good) + gata (gone, past participle of gacchati 'go'). The spatial prefix su- 'well' compounds with gata 'gone' to denote one who has gone well, reached the destination successfully. Cognate with Greek eu- (eulogy, euthanasia) from the same Indo-European root; compare English 'well' and 'gate' (in the sense of a path or way, archaic).
