ind. (ablative of tappaccaya, instrumental sg. often used as indeclinable)
Analysis. ta- (that) + paccaya (condition, ground, reason) + -ā (ablative ending); lit. 'from the condition of that', a fossilized case form expressing causality.
Etymology. paccaya itself contains paṭi- (back, against, in return) + √i (go), so 'that which comes back to meet a condition'; paṭi- is cognate with Greek προ- (pros, 'toward, against'). The ablative -ā denotes 'from, out of'.
