masc nom sg of teja (adj); masc nom sg of tejas (noun); masc acc sg of tejas (noun)
Etymology. From Indo-European *tek- 'to flow, melt', related to Sanskrit tejas (तेजस्) 'fire, splendour, power', and to English 'thaw'. The root sense is thermal fluidity and radiant energy; in the canon, tejas represents one of the four great elements (mahābhūta) and figuratively the power or splendour of a being, especially the Buddha.
