nominative singular neuter of udaka (water)
Etymology. From ud- (up, out) + √ak (to flow), literally "that which flows out"; cognate with English "aqua" (Latin) and Greek "hydro-" (from the same Indo-European root for flowing water). The prefix ud- preserves its spatial sense: water as that which rises and flows outward.
