here IIdhāhaṁ, Sāriputtasāriputta, a certainekaccaṁ individualpuggalaṁ thusevaṁ with mindcetasā mindceto having encompassedparicca I understandpajānāmi—
in such a way thistathāyaṁ individualpuggalo practicingpaṭipanno sotathā andca behavesiriyati and thattañca pathmaggaṁ has mountedsamārūḷho, thatyathā of the bodykāyassa with the breakupbhedā afterparaṁ deathmaraṇā in a place of lossapāyaṁ a bad placeduggatiṁ the underworldvinipātaṁ hellnirayaṁ will be reborn (quote)upapajjissatīti.
himTamenaṁ I seepassāmi after someaparena timesamayena with divinedibbena eyecakkhunā purifiedvisuddhena superhumanatikkantamānusakena of the bodykāyassa with the breakupbhedā afterparaṁ deathmaraṇā in a place of lossapāyaṁ a bad placeduggatiṁ the underworldvinipātaṁ hellnirayaṁ rebornupapannaṁ, exclusively painfulekantadukkhā sharptibbā severekaṭukā feelingsvedanā experiencingvedayamānaṁ.
supposeSeyyathāpi, Sāriputtasāriputta, a pit of coalsaṅgārakāsu deeper than a mansādhikaporisā fullpūrā of coalsaṅgārānaṁ flamelessvītaccikānaṁ smokelessvītadhūmānaṁ.
thenAtha a personpuriso would comeāgaccheyya scorched by heatghammābhitatto overcome by heatghammapareto wearykilanto thirstytasito parchedpipāsito by a one-wayekāyanena pathmaggena to that verytameva pit of coalsaṅgārakāsuṁ heading forpaṇidhāya.
himTamenaṁ clear-eyedcakkhumā a personpuriso having seendisvā thusevaṁ would sayvadeyya:
in such a way this‘tathāyaṁ goodbhavaṁ personpuriso practicingpaṭipanno sotathā andca behavesiriyati and thattañca pathmaggaṁ has mountedsamārūḷho, thatyathā to this veryimaṁyeva pit of coalsaṅgārakāsuṁ will arrive (quote)āgamissatī’ti.
