declared‘byākataṁ indeedkho, friendāvuso Sāriputtasāriputta, by usamhehi all + indeedsabbeheva according to our ownyathāsakaṁ inspirationpaṭibhānaṁ.
thereTattha nowdāni wemayaṁ venerableāyasmantaṁ Sāriputtasāriputtaṁ we askpucchāma—
lovelyramaṇīyaṁ, friendāvuso Sāriputtasāriputta, sal forest at Gosiṅgagosiṅgasālavanaṁ, brightdosinā nightratti, all·blossom·bloomedsabbaphāliphullā sal treessālā, heavenlydibbā, it seemsmaññe, scentsgandhā float on the airsampavanti.

heSo in whichyāya abiding·attainmentvihārasamāpattiyā wishesākaṅkhati morning·timepubbaṇhasamayaṁ to dwellviharituṁ, in thattāya abiding·attainmentvihārasamāpattiyā morning·timepubbaṇhasamayaṁ dwellsviharati;
in whichyāya abiding·attainmentvihārasamāpattiyā wishesākaṅkhati midday·timemajjhanhikasamayaṁ to dwellviharituṁ, in thattāya abiding·attainmentvihārasamāpattiyā midday·timemajjhanhikasamayaṁ dwellsviharati;

heSo which·indeedyaññadeva cloth·pairdussayugaṁ might wishākaṅkheyya morning·timepubbaṇhasamayaṁ to wearpārupituṁ, thattaṁ that·verytadeva cloth·pairdussayugaṁ morning·timepubbaṇhasamayaṁ might wearpārupeyya;
which·indeedyaññadeva cloth·pairdussayugaṁ might wishākaṅkheyya midday·timemajjhanhikasamayaṁ to wearpārupituṁ, thattaṁ that·verytadeva cloth·pairdussayugaṁ midday·timemajjhanhikasamayaṁ might wearpārupeyya;

heSo by whichyāya dwelling·attainmentvihārasamāpattiyā wishesākaṅkhati morning·timepubbaṇhasamayaṁ to dwellviharituṁ, by thattāya dwelling·attainmentvihārasamāpattiyā morning·timepubbaṇhasamayaṁ dwellsviharati;

heSo by whichyāya dwelling·attainmentvihārasamāpattiyā toward·desireākaṅkhati morning·timepubbaṇhasamayaṁ to dwellviharituṁ, by thattāya dwelling·attainmentvihārasamāpattiyā morning·timepubbaṇhasamayaṁ dwellsviharati;
by whichyāya dwelling·attainmentvihārasamāpattiyā toward·desireākaṅkhati midday·timemajjhanhikasamayaṁ to dwellviharituṁ, by thattāya dwelling·attainmentvihārasamāpattiyā midday·timemajjhanhikasamayaṁ dwellsviharati;

of all“Sabbesaṁ yourvo, Sāriputtasāriputta, well spoken·nom.sgsubhāsitaṁ in a mannerpariyāyena.
butApi andca me·alsomamapi hear·2pl.impsuṇātha of what kindyathārūpena mendicant·instr.sgbhikkhunā Gosiṅga·sal forest·acc.sggosiṅgasālavanaṁ would gracesobheyya.
hereIdha, Sāriputtasāriputta, a mendicantbhikkhu after·meal·acc.sgpacchābhattaṁ almsround·returnedpiṇḍapātapaṭikkanto sit·3sg.presnisīdati cross-legged·acc.sgpallaṅkaṁ toward·bend·gerābhujitvā uprightujuṁ body·acc.sgkāyaṁ forth·setpaṇidhāya around·face·acc.sgparimukhaṁ mindfulness·acc.sgsatiṁ having set upupaṭṭhapetvā:
not‘na so long Itāvāhaṁ this·acc.sgimaṁ cross-legged·acc.sgpallaṅkaṁ I will breakbhindissāmi untilyāva myme by not graspingnānupādāya defilement·abl.plāsavehi mind·nom.sgcittaṁ will be freedvimuccissatī’ti.
of such kindEvarūpena indeedkho, Sāriputtasāriputta, mendicant·instr.sgbhikkhunā Gosiṅga·sal forest·acc.sggosiṅgasālavanaṁ would grace."sobheyyā”ti.
