thatSa indeedkho heso, Mahānāmamahānāma, noble discipleariyasāvako this veryimaṁyeva supremeanuttaraṁ purity of mindfulness and equanimityupekkhāsatipārisuddhiṁ relying onāgamma with clairvoyancedibbena with eyecakkhunā purifiedvisuddhena superhumanatikkantamānusakena sentient beingssatte seespassati passing awaycavamāne being rebornupapajjamāne inferiorhīne superiorpaṇīte beautifulsuvaṇṇe uglydubbaṇṇe in a good placesugate in a bad placeduggate ……pe… according to their deedsyathākammūpage sentient beingssatte understandspajānāti,
this is theirayamassa second breaking outdutiyābhinibbhidā ishoti like a chickkukkuṭacchāpakasseva from an eggshellaṇḍakosamhā.

this is theirayamassa third breaking outtatiyābhinibbhidā ishoti like a chick'skukkuṭacchāpakasseva from an eggshellaṇḍakosamhā.

and whateverYampi, Mahānāmamahānāma, a noble discipleariyasāvako accomplished in ethicssīlasampanno ishoti, this for himidampissa ishoti conductcaraṇasmiṁ;
and whateveryampi, Mahānāmamahānāma, a noble discipleariyasāvako in the sense facultiesindriyesu guarding the doorsguttadvāro ishoti, this for himidampissa ishoti conductcaraṇasmiṁ;
and whateveryampi, Mahānāmamahānāma, a noble discipleariyasāvako in foodbhojane moderatemattaññū ishoti, this for himidampissa ishoti conductcaraṇasmiṁ;
and whateveryampi, Mahānāmamahānāma, a noble discipleariyasāvako wakefulnessjāgariyaṁ devoted toanuyutto ishoti, this for himidampissa ishoti conductcaraṇasmiṁ;
and whateveryampi, Mahānāmamahānāma, a noble discipleariyasāvako with sevensattahi good qualitiessaddhammehi endowedsamannāgato ishoti, this for himidampissa ishoti conductcaraṇasmiṁ;
and whateveryampi, Mahānāmamahānāma, a noble discipleariyasāvako of the fourcatunnaṁ absorptionsjhānānaṁ higher mindābhicetasikānaṁ pleasant dwellings here and nowdiṭṭhadhammasukhavihārānaṁ getting when wantednikāmalābhī ishoti getting without troubleakicchalābhī getting without difficultyakasiralābhī, this for himidampissa ishoti conductcaraṇasmiṁ.

and whateverYañca indeedkho, Mahānāmamahānāma, noble discipleariyasāvako manifoldanekavihitaṁ past livespubbenivāsaṁ recollectsanussarati, that is, one lifeseyyathidaṁ—ekampi birthjātiṁ two toodvepi birthsjātiyo …pe……pe… thusiti with featuressākāraṁ with detailssauddesaṁ manifoldanekavihitaṁ past livespubbenivāsaṁ recollectsanussarati, this too for him isidampissa ishoti part of knowledgevijjāya;
and whateveryampi, Mahānāmamahānāma, noble discipleariyasāvako with divinedibbena eyecakkhunā purifiedvisuddhena superhumanatikkantamānusakena beingssatte seespassati passing awaycavamāne being rebornupapajjamāne lowlyhīne exaltedpaṇīte beautifulsuvaṇṇe uglydubbaṇṇe in a happy statesugate in a miserable stateduggate …pe……pe… faring according to their deedsyathākammūpage beingssatte understandspajānāti, this too for him isidampissa ishoti part of knowledgevijjāya.
And whateverYampi, Mahānāmamahānāma, noble discipleariyasāvako of defilementsāsavānaṁ from the endingkhayā undefiledanāsavaṁ freedom of heartcetovimuttiṁ freedom by wisdompaññāvimuttiṁ in this very lifediṭṭheva in the dhammadhamme oneselfsayaṁ with direct knowledgeabhiññā having realizedsacchikatvā having attainedupasampajja dwellsviharati, this too for him isidampissa ishoti part of knowledgevijjāya.

this (one)Ayaṁ is saidvuccati, Mahānāmamahānāma, noble discipleariyasāvako accomplished in knowledgevijjāsampanno alsoitipi accomplished in conductcaraṇasampanno alsoitipi accomplished in knowledge and conductvijjācaraṇasampanno alsoitipi.

aristocrat‘Khattiyo bestseṭṭho among peoplejanetasmiṁ,
whoye take clan as the standardgottapaṭisārino;
accomplished in knowledge and conductVijjācaraṇasampanno,
heso is bestseṭṭho among gods and humansdevamānuse’ti.
thatSā indeedkho and thispanesā, Mahānāmamahānāma, by the divinitybrahmunā Sanaṅkumārasanaṅkumārena versegāthā well sungsugītā notno poorly sungduggītā, well spokensubhāsitā notno poorly spokendubbhāsitā, beneficialatthasaṁhitā notno harmfulanatthasaṁhitā, approvedanumatā by the Buddhabhagavatā”ti.

thenAtha indeedkho the Blessed Onebhagavā having risenuṭṭhahitvā venerableāyasmantaṁ Ānandaānandaṁ addressedāmantesi:
“good“sādhu good,sādhu, Ānanda,ānanda,
goodsādhu indeedkho you,tvaṁ, Ānanda,ānanda, of Kapilavatthukāpilavatthavānaṁ of the Sakyanssakyānaṁ traineesekhaṁ practicepāṭipadaṁ you spoke.”abhāsī”ti.
this the venerable saidIdamavocāyasmā Ānanda.ānando.

satisfiedAttamanā of Kapilavatthukāpilavatthavā Sakyanssakyā of venerableāyasmato Ānanda’sānandassa speechbhāsitaṁ approved.abhinandunti.
