perf 3rd sg of āha (verb)
Etymology. Root √ah, "to say"; cognate with Sanskrit aha, Latin aio "I say", and English "aye". The prefix ā- here does not reverse motion but intensifies the sense of utterance reaching the listener. The perfect form āha is inherited directly from Proto-Indo-European *h₂eh₁- (attestative root).
