pr 1st sg of ājānāti (verb); imp 1st sg of ājānāti (verb)
Etymology. ā- (toward) + √jñā (know). The prefix reverses the motion of the root: rather than knowledge going away, it comes toward the speaker. Sanskrit ājānāti; cognate with Latin gnōscō (know), Greek ginốskō (γιγνώσκω), English know, German kennen — all from PIE *gne- 'recognize, know'.
