imp 2nd sg of āmanteti (verb)
Analysis. ā- (toward) + √man (think) + causative suffix -e- + 2nd sg -ti; literally 'causes to turn (one's mind) toward', hence to address or invite.
Etymology. ā- (toward, reversive) + √man (to think, mind; Sanskrit √man-, English 'mind', 'mental', Latin 'mens'). The prefix ā- reverses the direction of the verbal root, so √man 'to think' becomes 'to turn thought toward', i.e. to address someone's mind directly. Cognate Sanskrit āmantrayate 'addresses, invites'.
