pr 3rd pl of abhinipphajjati (verb)

  1. is accomplished; is successfully attained; materializes; is produced

Built from

Analysis. abhi + nip + √phaj + -jati; abhi 'toward and over' + ni 'down, into' + √phaj 'burst forth, emerge' + jati 'becomes'. The root is intensified by the two prefixes bearing down on emergence: what bursts forth does so with full force into manifestation.

Etymology. √phaj 'burst, break forth' is cognate with Sanskrit phaṭ- 'burst, crack' and remotely with English 'fat' (something swollen and bursting). The prefix pair abhi + ni concentrates the sense: abhi 'bearing down on' + ni 'into' creates the image of something driven forcefully downward into being. In Pali doctrine, abhinipphajjati describes how kamma flowers into result, or how practice bears fruit in visible attainment.
