pr 3rd pl of anussarati (verb)
Etymology. anu- (along, following the track of; from PIE *anu-, akin to Greek ana- in the sense 'along, up through') + √smar/smṛ (to remember, cognate with Sanskrit smara-, Latin memor, English memory). The prefix anu- gives the sense of 'remembering along with' or 'recollection that follows in the wake of perception.' In the canon, anussati denotes recollection of the Buddha, the Dhamma, and the Saṅgha as cardinal practices.
