fut 3rd sg of chaḍḍeti (verb)
Etymology. Root √chad (Sanskrit √chad-) 'to cover, hide'; the geminate chaḍḍ- is a strengthened stem form. The sense 'throw away' develops from the concrete image of covering/hiding something by casting it off. Cognate with Sanskrit chadayati 'covers' (from √chad).
