Built from

Etymology. uk- (up, out) + √kujj- (to turn, bend). The prefix ud- (up, out) is here assimilated to uk- before the root. Related to Sanskrit ud-kuṭ- and Indo-European *kel- (to turn, bend), seen in English wheel, hill. The spatial sense of upward motion is preserved in the literal meaning of turning a bowl right-side up.
